New York City is going all out for All Hallows' Eve this year! New Yorkers of all ages are donning cool costumes and having a blast at harvest festivals, neighborhood parties and community events. And hopefully, you and the kiddos have been enjoying a variety of fall events that are happening across the five boroughs, as streets and public plazas are magically transforming into car-free spaces for trick-or-treaters eagerly anticipating Halloween. Special programming includes interactive performances, fun family-friendly activities, games, arts and crafts and live entertainment. And pumpkin patches have been popping up everywhere!

The city's fifth annual "Trick-or-Streets" initiative features over 180 pedestrian-friendly open streets and plazas that will continue to host Halloween and harvest events through Oct. 31. The city has also distributed 75,000 pieces of candy to participating event organizers.

Over in bustling Ridgewood , folks are getting into the Halloween spirit and taking part in unique local events, like the Myrtle Monster Mash, happening Oct. 31 at 2 p.m. Put your costumes on and head over to the Right Store (59-17 71st Ave.), a free outdoor community festival by Prince Peacock and the Myrtle Business Improvement District featuring crafts, jewelry, a DJ, story time, live performers and costume contests for kids, adults and pets.

Myrtle Avenue is a blast, with every shop handing out candy on Halloween, starting around 3:30-4 p.m. And every year, DADA – the popular artist-owned music and art space at 60-47 Myrtle Ave. – hands out 450 pieces of healthy candy to young trick-or-treaters. "This year, we're expecting even more kids to come by," DADA's co-owner Neda Zahraie told QNS.

On Saturday, Oct. 31, the venue is hosting a Family Halloween Dance Party from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., with a kid-friendly, seasonal pasta dish added to their regular menu for the event. Expect a rockin' Rock 'n Roll-inspired playlist.

There's ALWAYS something special going on at DADA.

Embrace that otherworldly energy and let loose at the venue's exciting after-dark celebration featuring FOUR live electronic artists. Enter the unexpected with "Night of the Living Sound!" – on Oct. 31 at 9:30 p.m., the night comes alive with hypnotic rhythms, surreal soundscapes and experimental electronics that will take you somewhere beyond the ordinary!

Don't sleep on the living. Bring your friends and make a toast to Halloween, spirits, ghouls and goblins, while enjoying live performances by these "otherworldly" artists: PYRON — ethereal vocals, analog synths and immersive sonic worlds. Omar and Khorshid — Arabic psychedelia meets driving rhythms, distorted melodies and experimental electronics. Tim O’Keefe — cinematic sound and audio art from a boundary-pushing composer. DeWinter — Deep underground beats inspired by nature and NYC from three-time Grammy-winning producer, engineer and artist Jeremy Loucas and more artists ready to bring the unexpected to life!

Doors open at 9:30 p.m. and the show starts at 10 p.m. Dinner and drinks will be available.

PYRON is an experimental voice and electronic sound artist who creates ethereal atmospheres through layered vocals, a Korg MS2000 virtual analog synthesizer and loop station. Blending voice and electronics into immersive soundscapes, she builds slowly unfolding worlds that feel like a drive through the night with the windows down—intimate, weightless, and open to possibility.

"I was first invited to perform at DADA last year, through Harrison Adams’ 'Environs' series that he hosts in collaboration with DADA, monthly, to explore boundary-pushing artists from all backgrounds of sound," Jenn Pyron told QNS. "I was deeply moved by the community that DADA actively cultivates and hoped to be invited back again. Fortunately, I was asked this year to perform in September, and it was at that performance where I met Neda, who has put together this amazing lineup for Halloween."

She added: "DADA is like a family for artists, where we can come together to listen and connect in real life, in a world where this feels like a dying art. Every time I’m invited to perform here, I feel excited in knowing that I get to share my newest ideas and feel the embrace of this special community. It is vital to have somewhere where you can go and just be yourself."

"Night of the Living Sound" is about creating a Halloween experience that goes beyond the ordinary…

"In a city like New York, where Halloween can get expensive quickly, we want this to be an accessible, no-pressure way to experience something truly special without the hefty ticket fees," Zahraie told QNS.
