A spine-chilling fright has arrived at the LeFrak Center at Lakeside in Prospect Park this spooky season.
As the centerpiece of Prospect Park’s first Harvest Festival, the LeFrak Center at Lakeside has introduced the Haunted Hotel, where guests can check in — if they dare.
The 20- to 25-minute experience includes 7,680 square feet of terror, featuring live actors dressed up to match the haunted hotel theme. Actors will not touch visitors.
“We have our haunted bellhops, our haunted chefs, our haunted honeymoon guests,” said Jordan Ekstein, the LeFrak Center at Lakeside’s special events and marketing manager. “All the people that unfortunately could not escape the apocalypse at Lakeside.”
The fear-filled adventure begins with a simulated elevator experience where new employees come to check in before being released to wander the haunting halls. While the hotel may appear like any other ordinary hotel at first, make no mistake: as soon as those lights start to flicker and the walls begin to shake, guests know they’re in for a wild time.
Throughout the experience, visitors make their way through a guest room corridor where every door looks exactly the same, a honeymoon suite where no guests have ever checked out and even a boiler room where no guests were ever meant to be.
Built in collaboration with Abracadabra NYC, which has specialized in haunted houses since 1981,, the Haunted Hotel at Lakeside is recommended for visitors ages 13 and older, and groups are capped at eight guests.
Tickets are sold for a 30-minute arrival window and cost $20 on Mondays and $35 Tuesday through Sunday. Walk-ups are also welcome.
For guests who want to participate in the Harvest Festival without the scare, a free-to-enter pumpkin patch and path is available close by. Visitors can wander through the patch, snap some fall photos, and pick the perfect pumpkin for just $10.
For an additional fee, guests can also explore a 30-by-30-foot corn maze for $5 and play yard and family games for another $5, including cornhole, giant checkers and more.
Professional tarot readings are available for purchase on-site only, costing $15 for a five-minute experience and $30 for a 10-minute experience. Seasonal food and drinks are also available at the festival.
Visitors can purchase a $20 all-access pass to the festival that includes one small pumpkin and pumpkin painting, corn maze entry and full access to the yard and family games.
“I just want everyone to feel like there's something for them here,” Ekstein said. “We really are a community space, and we want to make sure that people will feel that when they come and enjoy the day.”
As the fall festivities wind down, the LeFrak Center at Lakeside will be putting on a theatrical re-imagining of the medieval murder ballad, "The Cruel Mother." Performances will be held Oct. 29-31. Tickets cost $35.
Public Skating at Lakeside will also be opening on Oct. 31 as the center moves into the holiday season. Opening weekend will include free ice-skating lessons, free hockey lessons from the New York Rangers and more.
