EXCLUSIVE | Bronx woman speaks out after being brutally robbed and beaten by motorcycle-riding thieves while waiting for bus

A Bronx woman recounted the horrific moment she was brutally beaten by masked robbers while waiting for the bus to work on Monday morning.

A Bronx woman recounted the horrific moment she was brutally beaten by masked robbers while waiting for the bus to work on Monday morning.

In an exclusive interview with amNewYork, 61-year-old Juliet Sabah said that she was attacked while waiting at Bx24/Bx38 bus stop outside of a bowling alley located at 1215 Gun Hill Road just before 5 a.m. on Oct. 26.

Sabah stated that a group of four individuals riding motorcycles approached her. According to police sources, the suspects wore all black clothing and face masks.

Police reported that the brutes brandished firearms and began punching Sabah; one of the crooks even pistol-whipped her in the face.

Sabah, a cleaner who hails from Ghana and has been in the country for over two decades, struggled to speak Monday as she recalled the brutal attack.

“They pulled a gun on me, started beating me. They took my bag from me. They put a gun to my stomach and then went to my mouth,” she told amNewYork. “They just beat, beat, beat me.”

The suspects then tore away her purse, making off with a debit card and about $100 in cash.

Officers from the 47th Precinct responded to the incident. Sabah was rushed to Jacobi Hospital for treatment of various injuries, including a lacerated lip. She says that she is still in a lot of pain and is now terrified to take the bus.

According to Sabah’s daughter, Emelia Sabah, her mother was begging for help and told her attacker that she felt like she was about to die.

“She was shouting, 'Help me, you are killing me, and they put the gun to her mouth and hit her in the mouth,” her daughter said. She added that the thieves also stole her medication, and that Sabah was too scared to take the bus by herself again.

“They took her medication from her,” Emelia added. “She’s scared for herself, so I have to come with her. I’m going with her to the doctor’s now to pick up a new prescription.”

So far, no arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation, police said.

Anyone with information regarding the suspects’ whereabouts can call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (for Spanish, dial 888-57-PISTA). You can also submit tips online at crimestoppers.nypdonline.org , or on X (formerly Twitter) @NYPDTips . All calls and messages are kept confidential.
