The knife-wielding man who allegedly disrupted the filming of the new "Miami Vice" in Brooklyn, which stars Michael B. Jordan, has been charged criminally, police said.
According to law enforcement sources, 23-year-old Alex Perez has been charged with menacing and criminal possession of a weapon following Friday’s altercation. Cops say Perez got into a dispute with a 42-year-old production assistant near Bay Parkway and McDonald Avenue at around 10:40 p.m. on Oct. 24.
Cops say Perez was running through the street and being disruptive while filming of “Miami Vice ’85” was underway. When the 42-year-old staffer confronted Perez and told him he could not be in the area, he allegedly brandished a knife. The worker then called 911, stating that he felt fearful for his safety. Officers from the 66th Precinct responded and took Perez into custody.
A knife was recovered and nobody was injured, according to the NYPD.
Perez is known to law enforcement and has previously been booked for assault and burglary.
“Miami Vice ’85” stars Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler; it is being directed by Joseph Kosinski, who last made F1: The Movie. It’s expected to be released in 2028.
