The death of a 25-year-old autistic man in his Woodside home was deemed a homicide by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, the NYPD announced Thursday, Oct 15.
Police from the 108th Precinct in Long Island City responded to a 911 call of an unconscious person inside 48-36 59th St. in Woodside just before 9 a.m. and found the victim unresponsive with a slash wound and trauma to the body. EMS responded to the home and pronounced him dead at the scene. He was later identified as Bryan Wong, who lived in the family home. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is still working to determine his cause of death.
An NYPD spokesperson could not confirm multiple reports that Wong's 62-year-old mother attempted suicide by jumping from the Van Wyck Expressway in Willets Point early Wednesday morning. EMS transported her to New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital.
The police spokesperson on Thursday could not say if she is being investigated in her son's death, saying that there are no arrests at this time, and the homicide investigation remains ongoing.
